Pashupatinath Darshan and Kathmandu Tour (3 Days)

A three-day private tour, focusing on Pashupatinath darshan and Bagmati evening aarti, has been expanded into a Kathmandu Valley full sightseeing tour with visits to all seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a night stay at Nagarkot for viewing the Himalayan sunrise and Namobuddha Monastery.

Best Time to Visit

In order to visit the Pashupatinath Temple when there are fewer devotees, come early morning to have a quieter darshan. For evening aarti, come half an hour to an hour in advance to get yourself a good view on the riverbank. The dry season in Nepal runs from October until April and provides clear views of the Himalayas from both Nagarkot and Dhulikhel. Comfortable weather will be experienced throughout all three days.

Temple Entry Rules for Non-Hindu Visitors

The central temple complex housing the lingam of Lord Shiva is accessible only to Hindus. Non-Hindus are permitted to tour the outer premises and garden areas without restriction and can see the central temple complex from the eastern side of the Bagmati River, where one can see the aarti in progress. Foreign nationals pay an entrance fee of approximately NPR 1,000, while Nepali and Indian nationals enter free.

Dress Code and Temple Etiquette

Shoes off before entering temple buildings, wear something easy to slip on and off. Dress modestly, shoulders and knees covered. Photography is fine across most of the complex, but avoid photographing the cremation ghats and grieving families; this is a functioning cremation site.
